ILION - Francis "Pete" C. Peters, age 88, of 9 W. Rand St., Ilion, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center, Ilion.
He was born on September 26, 1924, in Malone, the son of Winfred and Elma (King) Peters, and attended Annunciation School, Ilion. Fran was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. On September 27, 1947, he was married to Viola M. Perry at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion. She died on December 29, 2006. Mr. Peters was employed at Remington Typewriter Co. and Remington Arms Co. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and the Ilion VFW.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Stephen Martin, of Ilion; two grandsons, Charles Humphreville and his wife, Jennifer, of Litchfield, and John Seiselmyer, of Utica; two granddaughters, Tina Tucker and husband, Arthur, of Ilion, and Shannon LaCelle, of Ilion; and eleven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Humphreville, Kyle Vance, Jennifer and James Loomis, Jasmine LaCelle, Dylan Crawford, Morgan Vance and Jordyn White, Miley Tucker, and Trevor and Alexis Seiselmyer.
He was predeceased by his wife, Viola; his daughter, Linda (Peters) Seiselmyer; and brother, Vernon.
Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, and 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, next to his wife, Viola.
Calling hours are Monday, April 22, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Ilion VFW service will be held 6:00 p.m., Monday.
