FRANKFORT - Francesca (Migliore) Magro, beloved matriarch of the Magro family, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 101. Her passing occurred in the privacy and comfort of her home with her beloved family always at her side.
Born in San Giuseppe Jato PR Palermo, Sicily on February 12, 1923, Francesca was the daughter of the late Stefano and Giuseppa (LoRe) Migliore. On April 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to the late Salvatore “Toto” Magro, with whom she shared an inseparable devotion throughout their 64 years of marriage until Salvatore’s passing on May 22, 2014.
In her childhood years, Francesca was taught how to be a seamstress by her mother. They sacrificed their homeland to come to the United States to give their family a better life and they always knew the importance of remaining together. She worked at Joseph & Feiss as a seamstress for 12 years. As a family, they began the Pumpkin Patch Farm, growing and selling strawberries, tomatoes and other various produce. Francesca and Salvatore truly raised their children to work hard and remain close.
Throughout the years, Francesca’s greatest joys were spent in the company of her growing family and she was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The love she bestowed to her husband, sons and grandchildren was returned to her tenfold, especially as she advanced in her years. Her sons were her best friends and they made every effort to take care of their mom to make sure she could remain with her family; Vinny and Joe dedicated much time towards her care along with Pat and Stefano. The closeness they all shared with their mother was incredible and their bond unbreakable. Each and every one of the Magro family wishes they had just a bit more time with their beloved mother and grandmother. Mr. & Mrs. Magro spent many special years with their family attending Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort as members of that parish community.
She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Ignazio “Pat” Magro and wife, Cynthia, of Frankfort, Stefano “Steve” Magro and wife, Toni, of Carthage, Vincenzo “Vinny” Magro and wife, Filippa and Giuseppe “Joe” Magro and wife, Serafina, all of Sherburne; her cherished grandchildren, Francesca Maria,
Salvatore Rosario, Stefano and wife Amra Magro, Salvatore “Savie” and wife, Amanda Magro, Stefania Peebles and husband, Greg, Salvatore, Antonino, Francesca Valentina Donancricchia and husband, Emanuele, Salvatore “Toti” and girlfriend, Hannah Ryan, and Francesca Lilla Maria; and her great-grandchildren, Stefano and Alessandra Magro, Gina and Gabriella Blake, Gisele Peebles, Aria and Luca Magro, Lydia Magro, Aaliyah and Elijah Magro and Catalaya and Cecilia Donancricchia.
She also leaves her special friends, Angel Noriega and his mother, Guadalupe Noriega; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family members, too numerous to mention.
Francesca was predeceased by her brothers, Domenico and Carmelo; her sisters, Giuseppina, Stella, Rosa, Maria and Concetta; and her great-grandson, Stefano Blake.
A special thank you is extended to the nurses and caregivers from Chenango County Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Francesca and her family throughout her last days.
