Frances R. (Barbuto) Sprague, age 89, a native of Herkimer, most recently residing at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, December 4, 2003. Frances was born on August 26, 1914 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Frank and Angelina (Servello) Barbuto. She was employed for many years with the Allegro Shoe Company in Little Falls. She was married to Albert Sprague in October of 1939. Mr. Sprague passed away in March of 1981. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer. She is survived by her beloved sister, Rose Luppino of Mohawk who cared for Frances during the last several years, her sister in law. Mary Barbuto of Frankfort, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Sara, brothers, Anthony, Nicholas and Joseph Barbuto and her sister Mary Fazio. Throughout her life, she made a strong impact on other people, both within her family circle and beyond, and she leaves them with countless beautiful and inspiring memories of their association with her. Frances demonstrated a sincere and dedicated commitment to friendship and loved the company of others. She will be always remembered for her gentleness and kind heart. Visitation at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer will be held on Friday, December 5, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. Her funeral will commence at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2003 from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, Herkimer where prayer will be offered thence to Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Shinos, pastor, officiating. Her final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, for their care given, especially mentioning Darlene. Also a thank you to Little Falls Hospital, Dr. Wadhera, Dr. Ferraro and the nurses and staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Faxton Hosptal. A heartful thanks to Frances' great niece Lucretia Rasich for her compassion to Zizi at the time of her surgery. Donations may be made at calling hours to an organization to be announces by the family.
