Florence E "Flossie" Cotton

COLUMBIA CENTER-ILION - Florence "Flossie" E. Cotton, age 96, formerly of Columbia Center, Ilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion.
She was born on February 4, 1919, in East Frankfort, the daughter of Henry and Iva (Best) Strong, and attended Ilion High School. On June 24, 1939, she was married to Robert "Bob" Cotton in Cedarville. He died on January 8, 2000. Flossie was a member of the Columbia Center Methodist Church and past President of WCTU. She was also a former Sunday school teacher and member of the church choir in the South Ilion Methodist Church.
Surviving family members include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen Cotton, of Cana, VA, Carl and Janet Cotton, of Cedarville, and James "Jim" and Nancy Cotton, of North Columbia; her daughter, Cynthia Cotton and Annette Anderson, of Ilion; a daughter-in-law, Kay Cotton, of Columbia Center; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her son, Kenneth; eight brothers; four sisters; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Combs and Chad Cotton.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Pastor Hans Drews, of the Columbia Center Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Cemetery of Reformed Church of Columbia Center, next to her husband, Bob.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m., prior to the funeral home service at 102 West St., Ilion.

Service arrangements and supervision were prearranged and entrusted to Flossie's family Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
