Ilion: Ethel I. Wohnsen, 83, of Ilion, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Crouse Irving Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
She was born on February 19, 1927 in Herkimer, the daughter of the late William Louis and Ethel (Howard) Peters. She was a graduate of Mohawk High School and had resided in Ilion for over 45 years. Ethel was married to Carl J. Wohnsen who predeceased her.
Mrs. Wohnsen was last employed as a personnel director for Dunlop Manufacturing Company in Utica. She also was employed in the personnel department for Univac, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Ilion Women of the Moose.
Surviving relatives include one son: Robert W. Bluett and wife Melanie of Athens, GA; a daughter: Vicki Mogensen and husband Brad of Ilion; four grandchildren: Tara Carmichael, Kristen Morton, Shane and Andrew Mogensen; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and her children's father: Robert Bluett of Ilion. Ethel was predeceased by a sister Eleanor Sturges.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend graveside services on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 10AM at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home.
