Erik J. Atkinson

ILION – Mr. Erik J. Atkinson, age 38, of McGowan Road, (Town of Frankfort), passed away unexpectedly, at his home, devoted family at his side, on March 30, 2025.

He was born in Ilion, New York, on August 3, 1986, as the son of Ralph J. and Lynda (Blaise) Atkinson. He was a graduate of Ilion High School, ‘Class of 2004.’ He was proud to be part of the State Championship baseball team and played and loved every sport available. He loved his job as a bus driver for the Whitesboro Central School District.

Erik’s passions were near and dear to him, namely playing football, baseball, hockey when he could, as well as watching the Washington Redskins Football and new jersey Devils Hockey. Additionally, he loved history, reading, and RomCom’s.

Erik is survived by those he dearly held close to his heart: his mother, Lynda S. (Blaise-Atkinson), his brother and sister-in-law, Richard Gray (Mandy); his niece, Lily and nephew R.J.; his several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph; grandparents Richard and Eleanor Blaise; and Jesse and Mary Atkinson, a cousin, Christopher and a niece Mary.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York (old Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort). Erik’s family will honor him with a memorial calling hour time, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., followed by a Catholic Prayer Service, in the funeral home chapel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the calling hours and Funeral Service to follow.
