Elsie Abeling

ILION - Elsie G. Abeling, age 95, formerly of 126 Kent Blvd., Ilion, widow of George J. Abeling, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She was born on Feb. 10, 1913, in Herkimer, the daughter of William and Leola (True) Burnham. On Oct. 5, 1940, she was married to George J. Abeling in Ilion. He died on Sept. 11, 2002. Survivors include her special niece, Joyce Robinson of Utica; special nephew, Clifford Williams and his wife, Nellie, of Ilion; sister-in-law, Lana Williams of New Hartford; several other nieces and nephews, including Charles Burnham. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, on her family plot next her husband, George. Visitation will be Saturday, 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
