Mr. Elmer Edward Stowell 89 a resident of the St. Lukes Home in Utica, since August 2004, and former Oppenheim resident died Thursday July 4th, 2013 at the nursing home.
He was born in Oppenheim on October 12, 1923 the son of Irving and Delcia (Shulenburg) Stowell and attended Oppenheim School.
A veteran of WW II he served honorably in the United States Army.
Elmer was employed at Beechnut Company in Canajoharie and also worked for the town of Oppenheim a number of years ago.
He is of the Methodist faith and personally enjoyed hunting and fishing and building bird houses.
He is survived by a sister and her husband Donna and Robert Peckham of Madison, NY, his Nieces Lisa Beacraft, Gretchen Crandall and Kim Shaut and a Nephew Charles Colella additional Great Nieces and Great nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Esther Ferguson in 1966.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Tuesday July 9th 2013 at 11 AM in the Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. There are No calling hours.
His arrangements are entrusted to Brian A. Roberts of the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville, NY.
