Mr. Ellis Lee Shuford, of Mohawk, passed away after a courageous battle under the loving care of the Abraham House on January 22, 2016.
He was born on August 27, 1934 in Barnardsville, North Carolina, a son to the late Rev. Jesse N. and Patrea (Burleson) Shuford. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, the former Margaret Elizabeth Shepherd. Mrs. Shuford passed away on December 25, 1997. Lee was last employed as manager of Endres John Deer Dealership at the Domes in Herkimer.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth S. Mack, five grandchildren, inclusive to Clint M. Mack and his son Connor, seven great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law, Barbara Rainwater and Margaret Shepherd, and several cousins including Wayne Burleson. He was predeceased by his son, C. Allan Shuford in March, 2009.
His funeral arrangements have been established with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, NY, with Lee’s longtime friends Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (315) 866-1011. In honor of Lee’s request, there are no services. The family wishes to thank Hospice and Palliative Care as well as the Abraham House for the fantastic compassionate care extended.
