Elizabeth V "Betty" Morris

ILION - Elizabeth "Betty" V. (Garvey) Morris, age 93, of 57 West St., Ilion, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at home, with her family by her side.
She was born on April 3, 1920, in Frankfort, the daughter of Raymond and Frederica (Hunt) Garvey, and graduated from Herkimer High School. On August 8, 1940, she was married to John B. Morris at St. Francis De Sales Church, Herkimer. He died on October 20, 2009. Betty was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. She was also past President of the MVGH Guild, past President of Ilion Recreation Commission, and one of the founders of the Ilion Foreign Exchange Student Program. She was also a former member of the Mother's Club.
Survivors include her children, Patricia "Pam" O'Toole, of Spring, TX, John Michael "Mike" Morris and his wife, Jeanne, of Sharpsburg, GA, Christopher Morris, of Ilion, Andrew Morris and his wife, Diane, of Erlanger, KY, and Patrick Morris, of Ilion; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren, including a very special great-grandchild, Cooper Reed.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; her son, Paul, in 1987; her brothers, Raymond and Jack Garvey; and sister, Shirley Garvey.
A Memorial Mass at the Church of the Annunciation will be held later this spring at a date and time to be announced. In keeping with Betty's wishes, there are no scheduled calling hours.
