LITTLE FALLS—Mrs. Elizabeth Alice Avis, age 88, of 269 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, New York, passed away in her sleep, on October 30, 2023.
Elizabeth was born on April 6, 1935, in Westville, NJ. After graduating from high school, she worked for a short time before marrying Gerald W. Avis (deceased). Together, they lived for sixteen years in New Jersey and then in Niskayuna, NY, for thirty years, where she loved to garden and cook. Elizabeth worked for many years in the Iroquois Middle School library, in the Niskayuna school district, before retiring to care for her first granddaughter, Amanda.
After Gerald’s passing, Elizabeth lived with her son, Stephen and his family, in Clifton Park, NY before moving to Little Falls to be with her son Christian and his family.
She is survived by her sons and their families: David W. Avis and Michelle Avis, of Bellingham, WA, Stephen S. Avis and Lynn Avis, of Clifton Park, NY and Christian T. Avis and Jennifer Avis, of Little Falls, NY. She also leaves two beloved granddaughters, Amanda and Kathryn.
Elizabeth will be fondly remembered for her magnificent Christmas open-house feasts, her deep love for her family, her wit and humor and her devotion to her grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time. There will be a celebration of life for family in the future.
