LITTLE FALLS: Eleanor G. (Elly) Shepardson, age 79, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 after months of declining health.
Eleanor was born on October 18, 1932 and was raised lovingly by Tracy and Minnie Davis. A 1951 graduate of Little Falls High School, she then went on to further her education, attending and graduating from Becker Jr. College in 1954 with a degree in Business. She was united in marriage to Donald F. Shepardson on July 16, 1955. He passed away on February 2, 1993. Eleanor worked at Salada Tea and later OTB in Little Falls. She became the manager at the OTB in Herkimer before retiring in the 1990's.
Independent and creative, Eleanor was a talented artist and crafts person. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter Leigh, her favorite destinations being Aruba, Puerto Rico and Las Vegas. Eleanor loved her family, her friends, her cat and Syracuse Basketball.
Survivors include her son Donald K. Shepardson and companion Deborah Henderson of Utica; her daughter, Leigh Pell and husband Thomas of Stow, MA; her beloved grandchildren, Donald James Shepardson and wife Gina, Bryan Shepardson and wife Sarah, Stephen and Andrew Pell; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Nolan, John, Bailey, and Brynn Shepardsonher; her sisters-in-law, Pat Shepardson, Lucille Shepardson and Fran Shepardson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society or a charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY, (315)823-2424. Friends and relatives are respectively invited to attend Eleanor's funeral service on Tuesday June 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel of the funeral home where her Funeral Service will be conducted by the Reverend Thomas Lawless. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer will she will be laid to rest beside her husband Donald.
The family is being comforted and cared for by Harry J. Enea, Funeral Director.
