ILION - Eleanor "Ella" M. Rousseau, age 91, formerly of 106 Morgan St., Ilion, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford.
She was born on August 12, 1921, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Marshall and Jenny (Upthegrove) LaPoint. On August 12, 1944, she was married to Verden "Rusty" Rousseau, in Ilion. He died on January 8, 2005. Eleanor was employed as a domestic worker at the Ilion Elks Lodge, Ilion K of C and Ilion Moose Lodge for over eighteen years. She attended the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Eleanor was affectionately called "the Candy Lady" at the Turning Stone Casino. Also, children always called her "Maimai".
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Frank Manno, Sr., of Ilion; her grandchildren, Frank Manno and his wife, Barbara (Mc Namara) Manno, and Shawna (Manno) Feenin and her husband, James, all of Ilion; her great-grandchildren, Scott Bicknell, Brandon Wells and Eric Wells; and several nieces and nephews, including Margaret "Peggy" Leonis and her husband, Ron, Karl LaMondie, and Richard LaPoint and his wife, Mary.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2005; her son, Richard, in 1945; and several sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Deacon Peter Manno officiating. Spring interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
Calling hours are Sunday, January 27, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the funeral home service.
