Elaine N. Williams

Elaine N. Williams, (Welch), passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at Valley Health Services. She was 79 years old. Born on April 10, 1946, in New Hartford, Elaine’s life was marked by her loving spirit and devotion to family and friends.

Elaine was one of five children born to the late James Welch and Barbara (Lawton) Welch. She attended Frankfort Schuyler High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with compassion, warmth, and commitment.

Elaine was first married to Arleigh Haman Jr., with whom she shared many years until his passing in December 1990. She later found love again and married David Williams on August 31, 1997. They shared a deep bond and companionship until his passing in November 2020. Together, Elaine and David cherished their time spent camping, enjoying nature walks, tending to their flower garden, and listening to the tunes of Tom Jones and Neil Diamond. These moments were among the highlights of Elaine’s life, filled with joy and connection.

Elaine’s enduring legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her beloved sister, Sharon (Welch) McNally; her daughters, Coleen (Haman) Herringshaw and Doreen (Haman) Saunders; and her stepchildren, Carrie (Williams) Booth and Ryan Williams. She also leaves behind her cherished sons-in-law, Donald Herringshaw Jr., husband of Coleen, and Christopher Saunders, husband of Doreen. Elaine was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, whose heart was full of love for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her devotion to family extended beyond bloodlines, as she treasured her friendships and the bonds she formed throughout her life. Her gentle presence, love of the outdoors, and caring nature touched all who had the privilege to know her.

Elaine Williams will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her kindness, strength, and loving memory will continue to inspire those who knew her. Until we meet again, dear Mom, your spirit remains forever in our hearts.
