HERKIMER - Elaine S. Nash, 92, of Herkimer, NY, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, on June 1, 2021, at Bassett Healthcare, in Cooperstown, NY, with her daughter by her side.
She was born on July 15, 1928, to the late Lester and Alice (Harper) Bombard, in Westborough, MA. Elaine graduated from the Westborough High School and worked as an Executive Assistant at Marsh & McLennan, in Boston.
Elaine was married to Philip Nash, on October 25,1952, until his passing, on February 16, 2012. Together they operated Raven’s Wood Farms for over 50 years, first in Massachusetts, before relocating to Burrell Road, in St. Johnsville. After a barn fire, the farm was moved to Burrell Road, in Little Falls, until their retirement in 2004. Elaine and Phil eventually moved to Salisbury Center. Later, Elaine moved to Valley Health Services, in Herkimer, NY, after suffering a stroke.
She is survived by four children, Jeffrey (Nantiya), of Quakertown, PA, Steven (Elba), of Little Falls, NY, JoAnn Martin (Oren), of Brownington, VT and Brian (Nardina) Nash, of Corcoran,MN. Elaine is most proud of her seven grandchildren, Heather Nash, Kristen Nash, Julie Nash, Melanie Nash, Ben Martin, Adam Martin and Philip Nash. In addition, Elaine is survived by her sister Jane Greenlees, of Worcester Ma.
Beside her parents and husband, Elaine was predeceased by her sister, Norma Bombard and her sister, Muriel Bohaboy.
Elaine was an ardent supporter of her children and of her grandchildren. She always encouraged them to follow their dreams. Elaine celebrated and sometimes bragged about their accomplishments. Most of all, Elaine had a keen wit and sense of humor. She made everyone around her laugh.
Elaine loved animals and had many pets throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, please support your local animal shelters and rescues.
A private graveside remembrance will occur for the immediate family in the future.
