Mr. Edward W. Miller, 88, formerly of the town of Manheim and currently of 45 Arthur St., Little Falls, passed away Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Little Falls, son of the late Adolph John and Marie (Schmidt) Miller; and had lived the majority of his life in the Little Falls area. He joined in marriage with the former Josephine Savino July 4, 1941. Josephine passed away Sept. 21, 1996. Ed had served his country as an Army veteran of World War II, having enlisted July 23, 1941. He was honorably discharged Oct. 24, 1945. Following his tenure with the military, he was the recipient of an American Defense Service Medal, an American Service Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Miller had worked for over 30 years with the Little Falls Felt Shoe Co. in St. Johnsville as a laster. He retired in 1981. Ed was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church along with the American Legion Post 31 of Little Falls. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Doyle and husband Timothy of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; a brother, Herman Miller of Little Falls; grandchildren, Timothy P. Doyle II and wife Christine of Marcy and Pamela Smith and husband Richard of Frankfort; and great-grandchildren, Timothy P. Doyle III, Richard A. Smith II and Ryan M. Smith; a brother, Herman Miller of Little Falls; six nieces, Catherine Seaman, Charlene Harper, Evelyn Blovat, Carol Lyon, Ann Reardon and Lois Miller. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Charles Miller and three sisters, Mary Reardon, Helen Miller and Emma Miller. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls and at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Petrie Street, Little Falls with Vicar Jim Paulson officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Calling hours at the funeral home will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, from 10-11 a.m.
