Mr. Edward A. Geraty, Jr., 78, of Herkimer, died on August 28, 2004. He was born on February 19, 1926 in Utica, a son of the late Edward A. Geraty, Sr. and Rose (Gaiser) Geraty and was educated in Herkimer schools. He married Dorothy Keyser on November 2, 1946 in Herkimer. A United States Veteran, Ed served from 1942-1946 with the U.S. Marines. He ran a dairy farm in the town of Manheim until 1969 and was the founder of Geraty Pools in Herkimer. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer and the Little Falls Elk's Lodge #42. Survivors include his wife: Dorothy, of Herkimer; seven children: Kathy Geraty Taylor and husband Ed of Columbia, SC, Daniel Geraty of Taylor, PA, Richard "Dick" Geraty and wife Maria of Little Falls, Sue DeLuca and husband Greg Little Falls, Nancy Loren and husband Clinton of Sacketts Harbor, NY, Betty Cramer and husband Rob of Irmo, SC, and Ann Marie Geraty of Waterville; a daughter in law: Donna Geraty of Dolgeville; two sisters: Marilyn Geraty and Rosemary Geraty both of Fayetteville; a brother: Harry Geraty and wife Corrine of Lexington Park, MD; seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed's funeral will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, and at 10:30 a.m. from Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer where the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial. Procession will follow to Fairfield Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Visitation will be held at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, Herkimer from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004. By family request, in lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, Inc.; donations may be made at the funeral home.
