MIDDLEVILLE - Edward James Farrington, age 69, passed at Fulton Healthcare Center Gloversville, New York on March 18th, 2025. He had been cared for there since December 2023. Before this, he lived in Amsterdam, New York in his own apartment.
Edward was born in Herkimer, New York on December 9th, 1955, to Elizabeth Bellard and Ralph Harter Farrington. He grew up with his loving family in Middleville, New York and attended West Canada School and Herkimer BOCES Technical School.
Edward was preceded in death by his father Ralph Farrington Sr., his mother Elizabeth Bellard McConkey, his brothers Robert and Ralph Farrington Jr., his sisters Helen, Ruth and Marjorie Farrington.
He is survived by his sister Trudy Irene Zaffarano of Cody, Wyoming; brother Chester Eric Farrington of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and David Allen Farrington of Brewerton, New York.
The love for his family was obvious with his excitement when seeing them and his long hugs, never wanting to let go. He'd ride his bike long distances to go see his mother on special occasions like her birthday or Mother's Day. Growing up he enjoyed playing cards, bingo and going camping. He would just go and be by himself, he liked the solitude and peace of being in the woods alone. He got excited when he heard fire sirens and he'd want to go chase the fire trucks to find out where the fire was, maybe he wanted to be a fireman. He especially loved family reunions and gatherings when family could all get together. He enjoyed watching NCIS and he had a way of making his friends and his aides laugh and smile, no matter how their day was going.
Edward will be cremated later this week.
