MOHAWK - Edward "Ed" J. McKenna, age 88, formerly of Charles St., Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the Alpine Nursing Home, Little Falls.



He was born on July 10, 1926, in Ilion, the son of James and Julia (McCoy) McKenna, and graduated from Ilion High School. Ed was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy. On May 1, 1948, he was married to Dorothy "Dot" Buddenhagen at the Church of the Annunciation by Father Daniel Horan. Ed was the co-founder and manager of AARC, Frankfort, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, and a former member of Crowley-Barnum Post # 25 American Legion of Mohawk.



Surviving family members include his wife, Dorothy "Dot"; his daughter, Laurie Bradley, PHD, and husband, William, of Troy; his sons, Thomas McKenna, of State College, PA, and Michael McKenna and his wife, Connie, of Sommers, CT; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Daniel Bradley, Ashley Munoz and her husband, Michael, and Sean McKenna; his brother, John McKenna, of Atlanta, GA; his sister, JoAnn Joy, of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.



He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Greenfield, and his parents.



Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion, and 11:00 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery.



Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 23, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home at 102 West St., Ilion.
