Obituary
Edna Anne Quinn, 80, formerly of 114 West Main Street, St. Johnsville, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Ms. Quinn was born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 24, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Ellen Russell Quinn and John Quinn of Canton, Massachusetts.

After graduating in 1942 from the High School of Practical Arts in Boston, Ms. Quinn began her working career at the Boston Public Library while taking Library Science courses at Simmons College.

In 1946, Ms. Quinn married James H. Yauney, a longtime resident of the Mohawk Valley. The couple met in Boston while he was in the U.S. Marine Corps. They were married in Boston and resided in St. Johnsville where they raised five children. Mr. Yauney was Vice-President and Plant Manager of the Palatine Dyeing Company.

Ms. Quinn worked for the Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. for 10 years in both the Safety and Personnel Departments. She had also been employed by the John Hancock Insurance Company for a number of years.

At the age of 50, Ms. Quinn made a career change and received her A.S. and R.N. degrees from Fulton Montgomery Community College in 1977. She went on to complete her education at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She worked as an R.N. at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York; Leonard Morse hospital in Natick, Massachusetts, and Brookline Hospital in Brookline, Massachusetts. She retired in 1986.

After retiring, Ms. Quinn traveled extensively and spent nine months with her daughter in London, England.

Ms. Quinn is survived by her five children, 13 grandchildren and a brother. Her children are Susan Yauney (Jorgen Wegener) and Richard Yauney (Annette Yauney) of St. Johnsville; Bruce Yauney (Susan Jones) of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; and Alan Yauney (Diane Yauney) and Jeffrey Yauney (Catherine Oehring) of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Her brother, William Quinn, resides in Canyon County, California. She is also sister to the late Mary E. Smith and John R. Quinn, both of Boston, Massachusetts.

A private ceremony was held for family and friends at St. Francis De Sales Church in Herkimer on Monday, January 2, 2006. Burial will take place at the West St. Johnsville Cemetery in the spring.
