Ilion: Mr. Edmund J. Smith, 89, of Ilion, formerly Connecticut, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 in Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center.
Mr. Smith was born on September 23, 1922 in New Britain, CT, a son of the late William and Nora (Murphy) Smith. He was married to Mary "Maureen" Gallagher, who passed away on July 2, 2006. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, and served during World War II. He was employed with Wiremold of West Hartford, CT.
Edmund is survived by his daughter, Colleen Smith, of Ilion.
Mr. Smith's funeral will be held in Connecticut at the convenience of the family. Local arrangements are under the care of Scott J. Pizer, Funeral Director, Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY.
