Mr. Edmund N. Krawczeski Jr. "Fred", of Lake Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Foltsbrook Nursing Center in Herkimer, NY, the day before celebrating his 88th birthday.
He was the son of the late Gertrude and Edmund Krawczeski Sr. Fred was born and raised in Herkimer, graduating from high school there. He joined the Air Force in 1963 and often told stories of his time in both Massachusetts and Puerto Rico and the work he did there. After returning home from the service, Fred worked as a tool and die maker and spent his career at Remington Arms. He had a love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Once retired, he moved to the Piseco/Lake Pleasant area. He would often be found on a lake fishing, at the town dump trying to find treasures to fix and give away, or on his favorite bar stool.
Fred was a character and for those that knew him, you either loved him or not, and he didn't care either way. He was known for his story telling and crass jokes. In his later years he would carry candy and costume jewelry in his pockets, handing it out to the ladies. He loved the ladies. Even as he passed, he had women around him, which he would've been very proud of.
Fred was preceded in passing by his beloved wife Marianne Lynt, whom he always had a soft side for, as well as his parents.
He is survived by his daughter Joanne Gerster (Karl), his stepchildren Edwin Lynt (Anna) and Leslie Lynt-Davis (Pat) as well as his grandchildren.
A service will be held in the summer at a date to be announced to celebrate Fred's life and the memories he shared with us. He will then be laid to rest at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors at the convenience of his family.
