Mrs. Edith M. (Hazen) Rayner, 93, formerly of Worcester, Massachusetts, and for the past year of Sweet Hill Road, Town of Oppenheim, passed away on Thursday August 25, 2011.







Edie was born in West Brookfield, MA., the daughter of G. Clinton and Florence (Benson) Hazen. She graduated from Warren High School and attended Worcester State Teachers College for two years before marrying E. Harvey Rayner, a newspaperman who predeceased her in 2033, after 65 years of marriage.







Edie was a wonderful wife and mother, taking in foster infants and children for over 20 years. She loved baking, bridge club, the outdoors, her rock garden and vegetable gardens and the family camp in New Hampshire.







She is survived by her son Lawrence H. Rayner of Melbourne, Fl., her daughters, Rev. Audrey St. Mark with whom she lived within Oppenheim, Carolyn (Candy) Short and her husband Michael of Waukesha, WI., Janice Rayner of Holden, MA. And three long time foster children, Kathleen, Edward and Robyn Redmond. She also leaves eight grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren, a brother Walter Hazen of Charlton, MA. (Formerly of West Brookfield), a Sister Carolyn Allen of Gt. Barrington, MA. She was predeceased by a sister Rosamond Smith of Los Angeles, CA. and a brother Clyde Hazen of Stafford, Ct.







A Memorial service by her daughter Rev. Audrey St. Mark, will be held on Sunday October 16, 2011 at 2 PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Her ashes will be interred with her husband's in Boylston, MA. At the convenience of the family. There are NO Calling hours.







The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation in her memory to your church or Public Library. The family extends a Thank You to the Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
