HERKIMER – Mrs. Edeltraut E. Salewski, 95, passed away peacefully, on March 2, 2024, at Masonic Care Community, Utica, New York.
She was born on August 6, 1928, in Danzig, Germany, a daughter of the late Gustav F. and Ida J. (Koschnik) Schroeder. She was married to H. Otto Salewski in 1953. They came to the United States in 1956 and he preceded her in death.
She was also predeceased by her son, Sieg; her brother, Manfred; and her sister, Edith.
The family home was on Margaret Street in Herkimer for over fifty years and she spent the last few years at the Masonic Community, in Utica. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening and she just loved to listen and dance to German music. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Herkimer.
She is survived by her sons, Frank and Ron; her six grandchildren; and her seven great-grandchildren.
Calling hours at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, are on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and will conclude with a Funeral Prayer Service, at 4 p.m. Spring interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.
