LITCHFIELD – Earl Richard (Dick) Casler, 86, passed away at his residence, in Herkimer, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Earl was born in Ilion, New York, on June 19, 1935, a son of the late Charles B. and Nellie (Donahoe) Casler. He was educated in Days Corners Schoolhouse, in Litchfield and the West Winfield Central School. He graduated in 1953. He married Virginia (Thomas) Casler, on April 18, 1970, in West Winfield.

Earl was born and raised on the Casler Dairy Farm. He eventually took over ownership and operating the farm until 1995. He then worked on various other dairy farms in the area until his retirement. Earl was also active with maple syrup production and touring other maple producing farms. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons, Winfield #581 for 36 years, a member of Dairylea for 28 years and a member of the Herkimer County Farm Bureau for 40+ years. He enjoyed bowling and bowled in a league for many years.

He is survived by his children, Dennis and his partner, Bob, of Maple Shade, New Jersey and Daryl and Sheila Casler, of Farmington, New York; grandchildren, Jocelyn Casler and her fiancé, Christian, of New Jersey, Catie and Dougie Fletcher, of Virginia and Mallory and Mason Casler, of Farmington, New York; as well as great-grandchildren, Reese and Owen Fletcher; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his in-law’s, James Wagner and Patricia Casler.

Earl was predeceased by his wife, Virginia, in 2008; and siblings, Charles (Fred), James, Ella (Ruth) Paddock, Doris Wagner, Stanley, Homer, George and Robert (Mike).

A Celebration of the Life of Earl Casler will be privately arranged by his family at a later time. In recognizing the mission of the American Heart Association, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his honor, online, at www.heart.org

Earl’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY, Funeral Directors Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 866-1011.
