ILION - Duane R. Runyon, age 76, of Pelton Place, Ilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion, after an extended illness.
He was born on July 18, 1938, in Ilion, NY, the son of Richard E. and Wanda (Vandervoort) Runyon. He was a veteran serving in the US Navy. Duane graduated from Ilion High School in 1956. He was married to Jean Vandawalker on November 5, 1960, in Ilion. Duane was employed at Sperry-Rand UNIVAC, Ilion. He later was a computer specialist at General Electric Co. in Bethesda, MD.
Surviving family members include his wife, Jean; two sons, D. Alan Runyon and his wife, Christine, of Rockville, MD, and Eric Runyon, of Ilion; two daughters, Laurel Griffith, of Wilkesboro, NC, and Sheila Runyon and her companion, James Corn, of Waynesboro, PA; four grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Runyon and his companion, Karen Ford, of Ilion, and Peter Runyon and his wife, Barbara, of AZ; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Christine.
Graveside services will be held at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, at the convenience of the family. In keeping with Duane's wishes, there are no calling hours or service at this time.

The Runyon family has entrusted Duane's service arrangements to Funeral Director Don Applegate at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened home at 102 West St., Ilion.
