EAST HERKIMER-Dorothy Cioch, of East Herkimer, died on Friday morning, October 21, 2016.

She was born March 3, 1923 in Annsville, New York, the daughter of Charles Farley and Helen Edah Soper Farley. She graduated from Ilion High School. On January 5, 1941, she married Chester Cioch who predeceased her December 6, 2011. She was a sewing machine operator and floor-lady for the Allegro Shoe Corporation for many years starting in 1951.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Smith of Napanoch, New York, her granddaughter and her husband Renee and Joseph Gosselin of Rome, New York, her grandson, Zachary Smith of Walden, New York, and her great-grandson, Bradley Smith and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Chester, a grandson Kenneth Mack, a son-in-law, Carl A. Smith, Jr., and her sisters, Evelyn Edgett, Marie DesGrosielliers, Edna Strong, Sophie Loiacano, and a brother Charles Farley.

She was a resident of Homelife at Folts nursing home for the past ten months and the family wish to thank the first floor staff for the care and love given to Dorothy during her time there and thanks to those at Little Falls Hospital who eased her last days.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. View Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours.
