ILION - Doris J. Stephens, age 93, of Sunset Ave., Ilion, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2015, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
She was born on March 8, 1921, in Junction City, Kansas, the daughter of Walter Maxwell Cassetty and Josephine (Isler) Cassetty. On April 10, 1942, she was married to Robert "Bob" Stephens. He died on October 13, 1996. She retired from Duofold Co. Doris was a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church, of Frankfort. Doris was a proud military wife. She and her husband Bob traveled the world for thirty years with their family.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Stephens with whom she resided recently in Ilion, Patricia "Pat" Russitano and her husband, Robert, of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Robert Stephens III and Yvonne Stephens, Stephanie Pavlot and her husband, Tom, Ryan Pedone and his wife, Haley, Dana Sojda and her husband, Mark, and Rachel Russitano; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Max, Kenny, and Jack Cassetty; her sister, Lois Hurlbut; and her son, Robert Stephens, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened home at 102 West St., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber, Pastor of the Morning Star United Methodist Church of Frankfort, officiating. Spring interment will be at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
Calling hours are Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the funeral home service at 102 West St., Ilion.
