Doris E. Flannagan

HERKIMER – Doris E. Flannagan, age 81, of West Smith Street , Herkimer , NY passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, October 18, 2018, at Bassett Medical Center .

She was born on August 17, 1937, in Holmesville , NY , a daughter of the late Harold W. Miller and Stella B. Silvey Miller. Doris attended Oneonta school. She enjoyed going to Bingo, doing crossword books, and playing volleyball with family and friends at gatherings. Doris was known to be the life of the party, she always knew how to liven things up! She was a loving and devoted mother and friend to everybody. Anyone that would walk up to her she would chat with.

Doris was last employed by Walmart, of Herkimer as a door greeter until retirement in 2009. She also at one time, did dishes at Brian’s Roast Beef Deli, in Herkimer for many years. In the 1980’s Doris helped the Village of Herkimer as a crossing guard, particularly near Carney’s on North Washington Street . She loved to help the children.

Besides her three sons, Robert, of Mohawk, David and Kenneth, of Herkimer, NY; Doris is survived by two sisters, Marion Lambert, of Pensicola , Florida , and Dorothy Maddough, of New Berlin , NY ; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Harold & Stella; and two brothers, Paul Miller and Harold Miller, Jr.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer , NY , under the direction of Directors Harry & Kevin Enea and Martin Ciaccia. (315) 866-1011. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10 until 11 AM. Private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery , Herkimer.
