ST. JOHNSVILLE- Doris Mae Burkdorf, 90, of Averill St. entered into eternal rest on August 26, 2010 at her residence with her family at her side.
She was born in St. Johnsville on April 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Graham and Nellie (Allen) Huff. On October 12, 1940 she was united in marriage with Harold Burkdorf. Their union last over 54 years until his passing on June 8, 1994.
Doris was a dispatcher for SAVAC and a member of the Eastern Star. She loved gardening and baking. She was a very talented seamstress.
Survivors include her son Wayne Burkdorf and his wife Judith of St. Johnsville; her step grandchildren: Kevin Mereness and his wife Paula, Mark Mereness and Paula Yates and her husband Jeffrey, and her 3 step greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Huff and her brother Earl Huff.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Ingham Mills Cemetery with the Rev. Hans Drews officiating where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
The family is being cared for by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Doris' name to SAVAC or Mountain Valley Hospice.
