Donald R. Polley

ILION – Donald R. Polley, age 103, of Otsego St. , Ilion , passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2018, at his home.

He was born on August 16, 1915, in Ilion, the son of Herbert and Gertrude (Coleman) Polley and graduated from Ilion High School .  On June 8, 1938, he was married to Jane L. Gonyea at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion .  She died on May 16, 2014.  Don was employed in the Target & Test Dept. at Remington Arms Co., Ilion for 40 years retiring in 1978.  Mr. Polley was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and the Remington Arms 25 Year Club.  Don was also a former member of the Ilion Fish & Game Club, Ilion Moose Lodge and a former Scoutmaster for Pack 1010.

Surviving family members include his sons and daughters-in-law, Donald F. and Linda Polley, of Ilion, and Ronald and Kathy Polley, of Sanduskey, Ohio; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jane; his daughter, Gertrude Shaw; his sister, Dorothy Polley; and two brothers, Frank and Earl Polley.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018, from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location, at 102 West St. , Ilion .

A Prayer service will follow the calling hours at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.  Don’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2018, at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion .  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 12 noon, at the Armory Hill Cemetery , Ilion .
