Diane Emerson

Diane M. (Swiger) Emerson, 42, of 177 E. Clark St., Ilion, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Little Falls Hospital. Diane was born Nov. 2, 1963, in Ilion, daughter of the late Carl and Lavena (Shaffer) Swiger. She attended Frankfort Schools and was a graduate of Frankfort High School. At one time, she worked for Herkimer County ARC as a nurses aid, and more recently at Applebee's in Herkimer. She had a special artistic talent and loved to sketch, draw and sculpt. Diane also enjoyed cooking and being a mother to her two boys. Survivors include her two sons, Joshua and Cory Emerson, both of Ilion; her companion, Mike Harrig of Ilion; one brother, Carl Swiger of Frankfort; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverley and Alfred Swiger of Hatch Lake; nieces, Sarah Carpenter of Hatch Lake, Rebecca Russett and her husband Jacob of Sherburne, and extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents. Diane's funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, commencing at 11 a.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with the Rev. Richard Walker officiating. Interment in Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort, will follow. Family and friends are invited to visitation Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion.
