Dennis Patrick Korce

MOHAWK – Dennis Patrick Korce, passed away suddenly at the age of 67 on Friday January 26, 2018. Denny’s true love other than his family was his beloved farm where he passed away. He devoted his life to its care and he was the happiest there when spending long hours working.

He was born in Cooperstown , NY on January 30, 1950, son of Teresa (Murphy) Korce and the late Andrew Korce. Dennis graduated from Mohawk Central School , ‘Class of 1968.’ He went on to attend Siena College . He was an assessor for the Town of Little Falls and a Herkimer County Legislator for 38 years representing District 14. During his tenure he was elected the Body’s youngest Chairman and served as its Representative to the Board of the Herkimer County Humane Society for 25 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Joy ( Waterbury ), and his daughters Leah Isabel of Huntington , Vermont and Molly Elizabeth of Cicero , NY . Also surviving is his mother Teresa of Mohawk, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Barbara Korce of Mohawk, his sister Mary Joan of Mohawk, brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Colleen Korce of Sante Fe, New Mexico and Peter and Lisa Korce of Kingsland, Texas and his sister and brother-in-law, Katy and John Sagatis of Mohawk, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jodi and Bob Flo, and many nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companions, Myrna and Laverne and he also leaves very special friends Dave Schwasnick and Dave Fox. He was predeceased by his father Andrew Korce.

Funeral services will be held on Denny’s birthday, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 7:00 PM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street , Little Falls, NY with Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo officiating. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday prior to the beginning of the services from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society in honor of Dennis Korce. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
