HERKIMER: Dawn E. Valent, age 64, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Valley Health Services.
She was born on February, 27, 1947 in Lackawanna, NY, the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Mary (Fierro) Valent. Dawn was a 1965 graduate of Herkimer High School and attended Cazenovia College and Springvale College in Maine. Prior to returning to Herkimer, she resided on Cape Cod for 35 years, working as a chef at Fanizzi's Restaurant and also was the co-owner of Goody Hallett's in Truro, MA.
She is survived by her uncle and aunt, Angelo and Wilma Fierro of Tempe, AZ; many friends, including close friends, Elizabeth Pettee, Karen DePalma and Susan Fenuccio and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, S. Main Street, Herkimer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, at a later date. There will be no public calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home (Harry, Kevin and Daniel Enea-Directors) 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY13350, (315)866-1011.
A special thanks to the staff of Valley Health Services for their care, kindness and compassion that was offered to Dawn during her illness.
In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial contributions can be made to Valley Health Services, 690 W. German Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the church.
