ILION – David “Rick” Thomas Baldwin, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, on September 9, 2024, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, New York. He was born on October 3, 1944. He was the 3rd of 7 children to Dean and Margaret Baldwin. After high school, David enlisted in the Armed Forces and was deployed to Korea where he finished out his service to his country. When returning home, he started his long career with the Remington Arms Company. He also worked toward his degree in Business while working at Remington.
He was married to his loving wife, Floy Ann Baldwin, on August 1, 1970, at Annunciation Church, in Ilion, New York. Sadly, Floy passed away on April 15, 2023.
He is survived by his 2 sons, his eldest son, Chad David Baldwin and his spouse, Renee Baldwin and their two sons, Matthew and Joshua. They reside in Herkimer, New York, and his youngest son, Greg David Baldwin, of Brooklyn, New York.
David was the 3rd eldest of 7 siblings, all boys and is survived by 2 brothers, Gary and sister-in-law, Marge Baldwin. They reside in Brooksville, Florida, also, his youngest brother, Douglas and sister-in-law, Janet Baldwin, also of Florida. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
David was one to always make people laugh. He has made many friends along the way. Some special friends are Karen Johnston, of Utica, Rick and Debbie DeJohn, of Ilion and Dave and Kelly Myszkowski, of Little Falls.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bassett Hospital, in Cooperstown, New York, for the exceptional care they provided during this difficult time.
An Intimate Graveside Service will be held in the Spring, namely at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Waterville, New York.
His arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors, at 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York (315) 894-8000.
