HERKIMER-David R. Harrington, 67, of N. Main St., Herkimer, passed away after a long illness on Friday morning, May 23, 2008 in Valley Health Services, Herkimer. He was born in Herkimer on January 28, 1941, son of the late David P. Harrington and Catherine (DeForest) Harrington who resides in Herkimer. David graduated from Herkimer High School and then joined the United States Navy, proudly and honorably serving his country. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Shaddon in November of 1965. The couple have enjoyed a blessed and devoted union of 42 years. Dave was last employed with Hardens Furniture in McConnellsville and was also a truck driver for several years. He was of the Catholic Faith and attended St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Mr. Harrington was a man that possessed a strong work ethic. A kind and gentle person he had many wonderful qualities. He truly loved his family and went above and beyond for them and never spoke a bad word about anyone. The warm and friendly demeanor that he maintained will never be forgotten by his loved ones. Survivors include his beloved wife Elizabeth at home; his mother Catherine of Herkimer; his children: Mary Egelson of Oneida, Lisa Luchkiw and husband Jerry of Colorado, and Warren Harrington of Tenn.; two brothers: Jack Harrington and wife Ruth Ann of Herkimer and Michael Harrington of Caroga Lake; a sister: Mary Jane Bokowski and husband George of Little Falls; his grandchildren: Brandy, Amanda and David Egelson and a great grandson: Ryan German, Jr.; also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Monday, May 26, 2008 from 5-7 p.m at the Enea Family Funeral Home (Herkimer). His funeral service, offered by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, will commence at 11 am on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the funeral home. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. The United States Navy will offer military honors. Kindly consider memorial contributions to Valley Health Services, Herkimer who took wonderful care of David and his family.
