David A. Dunckel, Sr., 61, of Acme Road, Ilion, passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2006 at his home. He was born April 5, 1945 in Little Falls the son of the late Harvey Dunckel, Sr. and Elizabeth (Levi) Dunckel, and was a graduate of Ilion High School. Mr. Dunckel was an Army veteran, enlisting on September 9, 1965 and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1967 with the rank of SP5. For 44 years, Dave worked at Remington Arms in Ilion. Mr. Dunckel was of the Methodist faith. A marvelous friend, father and grandpa he enjoyed spending time with his son and family. Dave was a member of the Mohawk American Legion Post # 25 in his leisure; he enjoyed traveling to the Adirondacks, his amateur photography and the Drum Corps. Survivors include his son David A. Dunckel, Jr. and wife Jodi and their son, Derek of Tampa, Florida, a special friend, Elizabeth Backus of Ilion, 3 brothers, Arthur Dunckel and wife Jenny of Ilion, Harvey Dunckel and wife Marilyn of Herkimer, and Martin Dunckel and friend Judy Walawender of Mohawk, a sister, Beverly Matusik of Frankfort, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Kylie Dunckel and a sister, Kathleen Farrell. Friends and relatives may call at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main St., (between Ilion & Frankfort) on Monday November 20, 2006 from 5-8 pm. Burial will take place on Tuesday November 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm. at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Members of the Mohawk American Legion Post # 25 are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday evening at 7:00 pm for services. All memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Herkimer Veteran?s Agency. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
