Dale Leigh "Birdman" Burton

SAYRE, PA – Dale Leigh Burton, A.K.A. “Birdman,” age 66, of Sayre, Pennsylvania, passed away, on January 16, 2025, at home, with family, in Pennsylvania. He was formerly of Lowman, New York.

Dale was born in Ilion, New York, on February 26, 1958. He received his GED in 1975 just previously to going into the United States Navy, 1975-1977.

Dale was the President of Local Union 112 S.M.W.I. Association, out of Elmira, New York, until his retirement.

Dale leaves behind a brother, Tracy and Florence Burton, of East Schuyler, Route 5, New York; and two sisters, Kathy and Emerson Brown, Sr., of Chadwicks, New York and Sallie Burton, of Cedarville, New York.

Dale also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He loved them all greatly; also, so many dear friends, too many to mention. Everyone was his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joyce and Frank Fedele; his grandparents; his ex-wife, Cathy (Mary Bubacz) Burton; his siblings, Infant brother, Raymond; his brothers, William and James; and his sisters, Debra and Wendy Jean; as well as three nephews, Ralph, Jr., Bryant and Joey; and three brothers-In-law, Jay, Ralph, Sr., and Charles.

Dale’s family lovingly arranged for him to be brought to his hometown of Ilion, New York, under the direction of the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors. Here, arrangements have taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be coordinated later this summer, to be announced.
