Mrs. Collette Hopkinson, age 88, a lifelong Herkimer resident entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 11, 2003 at Folts Homes where she had been residing. Mrs. Hopkinson was born on January 21, 1915 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late William and Helen (Murphy) Mangan. She was educated in Herkimer schools and attended the Utica School of Commerce. She was united in marriage to Linn L. Hopkinson on November 19, 1954 in Hudson, NY. He passed away on February 8, 1999. Two of her children also preceded her in death, Dow Burdick and Brian Burdick. She was last employed with the Herkimer County Department of Social Services, retiring in 1973 after many years of dedicated service. Collette was a member of the Herkimer Lady Elks Lodge 1423 and at one time was active with the Herkimer County Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer. Collette possessed a saintly patience, a selfless generosity, and a personality that allowed her to take in stride all the great and small events in her family life, without ever a word of complaint. She displayed to her family deep and sincere joy and will be dearly missed by many. She is survived by a brother William Mangan and wife Frances of Colorado Springs, CO, two grandchildren, Patricia Burdick of Fl and Leigh Ann Burdick also of Florida. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Monday (today), July 14, 2003 from 6- 8 p.m. Her funeral will commence at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 15 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10 am from St. Francis de Sales Church, Bellinger St., Herkimer where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Funeral procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where she will be laid to rest. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff at the Folts Homes and especially Claxton Manor where she resided for several years for their professional care and expertise.
