HERKIMER - Clorinda Rita Fazio Giammaria (Corky), age 95, a longtime resident of East Herkimer NY, passed away on Thursday morning, March 13, 2025.

She was born in Herkimer NY on June 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Barbuto) Fazio. Corky grew up on Herkimer’s south side in a tight-knit family setting and in 1946 graduated from Herkimer High School.

She worked as a bookkeeper during the 1940s at Munger & Bechtold Auto. Later she served many years as a teacher’s assistant at L.W. Bills School and loved working with children.

On September 8, 1951, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert L. Giammaria, at Saint Anthony’s Church, in Herkimer, officiated by Father Gustav Purificato. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his death on October 16, 2013.

She believed strongly in the Catholic faith and she and Robert were active members of St. Anthony’s Parish. Corky was a member of the Crafty Ladies.

Corky had many fond memories of growing up on William Street in Herkimer which instilled in her a deep sense of family and friends.

She was a member of the Junior Miss Club, formed with high school friends, who remained active and continued to meet well into their 80s and 90s.

Corky had a great sense of humor and loved to tap dance for her nieces and nephews at family functions. She also loved to help organize the annual family Christmas pageant and was central to many family gatherings.

Her priority was to provide a safe and loving home for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons: Tom and his wife, Sharon, of Herkimer and Rick and his wife, Kim, of Lorton, VA; her loved grandsons: Nick, Steve, Madison and Carson; her great-grandchildren, Cooper, Bella, Calvin, Penelope, Luca and Jack; her Sister, Lucy Giffune and her husband, Don; her Sister-in-law, Ruth Fazio; many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins; and three God Daughters, Kim Fleming, Cathy Caliguire and Mary Angela Farber.

Besides her parents, Clorinda was preceded in death by a son, Robbie; by sisters, Angie Fiorentino and Delores Gardner; and brother, Angelo (Bart) Fazio.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Cousin Corky Lupino and the entire staff of Valley Health Services for their excellent care and compassion.
