Clinton John (Clint) Bailey

HERKIMER-FLORIDA - Clinton John (Clint) Bailey age 78 of Edgewood Florida passed away Saturday June 22,2024 at Advent Hospital New Smyrna Beach Florida with his loving wife of 45 years Becky at his side.

He was born on February 8, 1946, in Herkimer, NY the son of the late Clinton B. and A. Irene (Smith) Bailey. He attended schools in Herkimer and was a 1964 graduate of Herkimer Jr. Sr. High School. He loved sports, playing volleyball, football and running track. He attended the Physical Education Curriculum at Cortland State College with the goal of becoming a coach. Due to his being diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and Spinal Ankylosis, he was forced to leave school and pursue a different career path.

In 1977 while working for Kemper in Canada, he met his future wife Rebecca (Becky) Hucul, the love of his life, they were married on June 23, 1979, in Syracuse, NY a loving union one day short of 45 years. They had two daughters, Amanda and Erica. Clint worked for the Kemper Insurance Group, rising to the position of Vice President of Underwriting for the entire corporation. His work took him to several locations including New York, Canada, Florida, and California. He retired in 2000 after 35 years of service. Despite his health issues he continued his love for sports, being an avid golfer, and served as a coach and referee for his daughters’ soccer teams. He was a loyal Yankee Fan.

Clint is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky) Hucul Bailey, His daughters Amanda Bailey and husband Jeffrey Yeakley of Acton MA, Erica Bailey of Tampa FL; three grandchildren, Thomas and Jack Yeakley Acton MA, and Nora Hindman Tampa FL. His brother Robert (Bob) Bailey, East Herkimer NY, sisters Cynthia (John) Carleton, Citrus Heights CA, Marianne (Timothy) Schanthal, Fairview Heights IL. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his mother and father, he was predeceased by his in-laws Fred and Marie Hucul, his sister and brother in-law Julia (Bailey) and Glen Kroft, and his sister in-law Fran Bailey. Clint was very proud of his family lineage. His paternal grandmother Cynthia was a Nellis with ties to a long line of Nellis ancestors, some of whom fought in the Revolutionary War.

Arrangements in Florida are being handled by the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Homes New Smyrna Beach FL.

Kevin Enea, Director of the Enea Family Funeral Homes 220 N. Washington Street Herkimer, NY will be caring for the family at the services in Herkimer on Saturday July 13,2024 with calling hours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon with the service to follow. The burial will take place in the Rural Park Cemetery Inghams Mills, NY following the services.

The family requests no flowers. Donations to the Nellis Tavern Museum, PO Box 183 St. Johnsville, NY 13452; would be greatly appreciated.
