CANAJOHARIE – Mr. Claude Luther Swartz, age 94, passed away surrounded with love on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. The family is grateful for the care received, especially during this unexpected time.
He was born on April 23, 1927, in Sprakers, NY, a son of the late Claude and Nellie (Martin) Swartz. He attended and graduated from Canajoharie High School. He was married to Sally Ann (Mitchell), on June 24, 1950. She passed away December 16, 2016. He was a cheese pasteurizer and worked at Borden’s, in Troy, New York.
He loved to travel and spent many enjoyable winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a big-time fan of the Buffalo Bills!
He is survived by his children, Carrie Person, Charles (Donna) Swartz, of Georgia and Brian Swartz, of Phoenix; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a niece.
He was predeceased by his son, Claude L. “Larry” Swartz; his parents; and wife.
There are no services. His funeral arrangements are with the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, in St. Johnsville, NY, Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (518) 568-2300. Private interment will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
