HERKIMER: Chester Cioch, age 94, a longtime East Herkimer resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
Chester was born in Herkimer on April 2, 1917 and was the son of the late Thomas and Katy (Wozesiak) Cioch. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School and married Dorothy Farley on January 5, 1941 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Second Ave., Frankfort, NY. Mr. Cioch was last employed as a boiler repair man for the Utica Psychiatric Center and also for 25 years worked for Allegro Shoes of Little Falls. He enjoyed the outdoors and his spare time; he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Chester is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Patricia Smith of Napanoch, NY; two grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and two sisters-in laws.
He was predeceased by three brothers, two sisters and a grandson, Kenneth Mack.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. View Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours.
