LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Charles T. Slabe, age 75, passed into the loving arms of the Lord, on September 3, 2023, in Little Falls, New York.
He was born on October 20, 1947, in Little Falls, a son of the late Charles T., Sr. and Mary (Snell) Slabe and was a Little Falls High School Graduate, ‘Class of 1966.’ He went on to attend Cobleskill Ag & Tech, having graduated from there in 1968 with a degree in business. This degree served Chuck well, using his skills in food management sales through all his working years. For over forty years he worked with G.R. Bennett Co., of Syracuse having at one time been Vice President of Retail Sales. He then worked with Advantage Sales and Marketing, of Anaheim, California. Chuck was always focused on winning work contests and being the best at everything he did.
On June 15, 1968, he was united in marriage to his soulmate, Carol A. Casullo, at St. Joseph’s Church, in Little Falls. Then, in April of 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army, Vietnam era. Chuck, a first Sergeant, along with his unit were deployed to Italy to set up and run one of only two portable hospitals of their time. He honorably served our country for 24 years, until October 1993. He was a member of Elihu Root 331st Medical General Hospital Group, of Utica.
Chuck was a devoted member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and was a Churchwarden and a Vestryman. He loved bowling and the outdoors, was a true hunter and just loved playing cards at camp. Inevitably his priority was that of spending time with his family to whom he consistently showered with unconditional love. Then of course, was his love of going to the casino, another passion!
He is survived by his beloved family, his wife of over 55 years, Carol; his children, John C. Slabe (Lisa Hoke) and Jeffery M. Slabe (Shelly Flanders); his siblings, Richard Slabe and Margaret McLean; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Steven Slabe.
