Charles F. Gordon, 99 a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away on Sunday May 8, 2005 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. He was born October 21, 1905 in Vienna, Austria the son of the late Frederick & Barbara Phennig and was educated in Austria. Charles moved to this country in 1922. He was married to Eva M. Scheffczyk on September 12, 1948 in Germany. The couple shared a blessed union of 51 years until the passing of Mrs. Gordon on January 3, 2000. Mr. Gordon was a World War II veteran enlisting on November 19, 1943 and was honorably discharged on October 21, 1945 with the rank of Private First Class. While serving his country he fought at the Battle of Normandy. Charles was a Translator for the Library of Congress. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church in Little Falls. He is survived by a niece & nephew, Barbara & Andrew Kablulski of Elmwood, NJ, a niece in Austria & a nephew in South Africa and several in-laws in Germany. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Barbara. In keeping with Charles? wishes a memorial service will be held on Saturday May 21, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church in Little Falls, NY with Reverend Marion Pociecha, officiating.. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY.
