Catherine Walrath

Mrs. Catherine I. Walrath RN 97 , formerly of Little Falls and Parkside Court Dolgeville, and since July 22nd a resident of the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, passed away on Sunday August 23, 2009 at Little falls Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born in Yonkers, New York on June 24, 1912 the daughter of Patrick E. and Alice (Cody) Malone. She was educated ion St. Mary?s Academy in Little Falls and was a graduate of St. Mary?s Hospital School of Nursing in Amsterdam and became a Registered Nurse, in 1933. Catherine was employed as an RN at Little Falls Hospital for 45 years retiring from there in 1978. Many of her former patients often remarked on what a wonderful and caring nurse she was. Mrs. Walrath was the wife of Cletus C. Walrath who predeceased her on August 23, 1973. She was a communicant of the former St. Mary?s Church, in Little Falls. Surviving her are her daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Robert Lumley of Dolgeville and Kathleen and Paul McGuire of Cicero, New York, her grandchildren Kim and her husband Scott Hecox of Plattsburg, Robert and his wife Kathleen Lumley of Schenectady, Stacey Lumley of Little Falls, Kevin and Stephanie Dorozynski, Eric and Erin Dorozynski and Christopher and Teressa Dorozynski, Her Great Grandchildren Meghan and Caitlyn Hecox, Jack and Kylie Lumley, Stephen, Anthony, Kendall, and Ashley Dorozynski, a Brother and his wife Edward W. and Lois Malone of Penn Yann, NY, several Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Richard and Edward Malone and her sisters Alice Roy, Helen Cogovan and Rheta Lipscomb and her step mother Katherine Cheney Malone. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday morning at 9:30 Am in St. Joseph?s Church Helmer Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. William A. Gorman, pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. There are No Calling Hours.
