Carolyn V. Neverusky, 79, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026 at Wynn Hospital in Utica after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family with love and prayer.

Born on May 20, 1947, in Little Falls, NY, Carolyn was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Valenta. She was preceded in death by her parents and her much beloved brother, John.

Carolyn attended Owen D. Young school in Van Hornesville, where she graduated as Salutatorian of the Class of 1965. She went on to earn a Registered Nurse diploma from Albany Medical Center school of Nursing in August of 1968, where she was honored with the Faculty Award in recognition of her outstanding achievement.

After 35 years of dedicated service in the nursing profession, Carolyn pursued her commitment to higher education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing fron Syracuse University, where she also received the esteemed Continuing Education Award. Throughout her distinguished career, Carolyn served as a respected leader, mentor and educator in critical care and infection control. She touched countless lives through her compassion, expertise and firm commitment to the highest standards of patient care.

Carolyn met the love of her life, George Neverusky, while attending nursing school. They married on June 8, 1968, and shared 58 years of unwavering love, partnership and devotion.

In addition to her deep commitment to her family, her faith and the nursing profession, Carolyn was a devout and active member of the First United Methodist Church. She found joy in travelling, the arts and cultural activities, gardening and creating lasting memories with those she loved.

Carolyn’s final three years were spent at Chestnut House of Sitrin Healthcare Center in New Hartford, NY, where she received excellent long-term care by a dedicated and caring staff.

Carolyn’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her dearly beloved husband George; her four children: Michael Neverusky and partner David Murphy of Paramus, NJ; Marcia Neverusky and husband Cedric Reeves of Little Falls; Matthew Neverusky and wife Emilia of Vienna, VA; and Michelle Neverusky-Brindeau and husband Adrian Borda of Rome. She also leaves behind her two cherished grandchildren, Trinity Brindeau and Nicholas Neverusky, along with a wide circle of dear friends, former colleagues and all whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25 at 9:00 am at Van Hornesville United Methodist Church in Van Hornesville, NY, with a burial to immediately follow at the Rural Highland Cemetary in Jordanville, NY. A luncheon at the Bella Vista Restaurant in Little Falls, NY, is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. All are welcome.
