Carolyn A. Elthorp

MOHAWK – Mrs. Carolyn A. Elthorp, age 82, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Little Falls Hospital.

Born in Herkimer on November 22, 1942, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marian (Waldo) Jaworoski. She was raised and educated locally. On June 13, 1980, Carolyn was married to the late William R. “Bill” Elthorp in Mohawk, NY with Rev. William Preuss officiating.

Their union spanned over 35 years and was filled with love and companionship. They enjoyed travelling, time spent with family and friends and just going for a ride to be together. Bill passed on September 24, 2015.

Carolyn’s working years were spent as an EMT with the Mohawk Valley Ambulance Corps; an endeavor of which she and her husband, Bill, were both co-founding members. She dedicated her life to the needs of the community and was well-known for her years spent on the ambulance. She also worked at Herkimer County BOCES where she spent time in childcare and absolutely adored the children she was responsible for. They brough her great joy.

In her spare time, Carolyn could be found using her creative side to paint, sew and make crafts. She was a kind person with a big heart and her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Richard Valentine of Mohawk and Mary and David Fusillo of Schuyler. Although she never had children of her own, Carolyn was extremely close to her nieces and nephews and loved any time spent with them. She leaves behind Mark Valentine and his wife Gabriella Mirabelli, Stephen and Beth Valentine, Chris and Candice Fusillo and Amanda Franklin; her great-niece and great-nephews, Lucas, Nico, Ryan, Grace, Jack and Nicholas; and her close friends, Diane Cherry, Linda and Cliff Munio, Karen Charles and Nancy Flanagan.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation for Carolyn on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Carolyn’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday at 4:00PM, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation with Rev. Joelle Faulks, officiating.

Spring interment will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:30AM at the Exeter Center Cemetery where a graveside service will be held for all who wish to attend, including those who cannot attend services now.
