Carl R. Kalem

Carl R. Kalem, 53, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, passed away after a prolonged illness on Thursday, June 25, 2026.                                       
Carl was born on September 23, 1972, in Herkimer, New York. He grew up in the Mohawk Valley, graduating from Mohawk Central School before going on to earn his bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University. Shortly after college, Carl made his home in New Jersey, where he spent many years building a career in retail management across various businesses, earning the respect of those he worked alongside.

Carl was a quiet and kind soul, the kind of man who never sought the spotlight but was always the first to lend a hand. A devoted fan of baseball and football, he found joy in the simple pleasures of the game and the camaraderie that comes with them. To those lucky enough to know him, he was far more than a fan in the stands, he was a steady presence, a gentle spirit, and a true hero. 

He is survived by his beloved mother, Carol Kalem, of Mohawk, New York; his sisters, Cheryl Neal and her husband Mark, of Bradenton, Florida, and Catheryn Gallagher and her husband Jon, of Novato, California; and his brother, Chris Kalem, and his fiancée Tina Jacopelle, of Ilion, New York. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl L. Kalem. 

Those who knew Carl are invited to come together to honor his memory on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The family will be receiving relatives and friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a celebration of life commencing at 12:00 PM, at Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, New York 13357.
