HERKIMER & PA – Mr. Brian J. Carney, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Allentown, PA. He was 39 years old. His untimely passing occurred after he was struck by a motor vehicle as a pedestrian. Brian was a true fighter who fought the good fight against addiction.

He was born on February 13th, 1987, in the town of New Hartford, NY, a son to his beloved parents, Madeline R. (Laurer) and the late Brian J. Carney, Sr. He attended Herkimer High School and lived much of his life in our area.

Brian had an extraordinary sense of caring for others. He especially extended himself to those in need with recovery assistance. He was a kindhearted soul, humble, and an all-around good guy. He found great pleasure working out at the gym and rooting for his favorite sport teams, but what brought him the most joy and what he was most proud of, were his young sons.

He is survived by his mother, Madeline, of whom he shared a special bond with; she was his rock; along with his sons, Blake, Jaxson, and Dawson. His siblings and families, Melinda Mroz (Matthew) of Pennsylvania, Crystal Carney of Herkimer, Tammy Mahay (Dan) of Frankfort, Dana Carney-Madigan (Paul, Jr.) of Ilion, and Carlene Carney–Black of Rochester, NY, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Brian, Sr.(2015), and brother, Christopher Carney(2025).

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family under the direction of The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY (town of Frankfort). Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There are no calling hours.
